Lab Rules and Procedures

 
  1. The computers are for MJC students and may only be used for educational purposes.

  2. No chatting, no games, no shopping, and no pornography is allowed.

  3. Students are not allowed to install, delete, or change any programs in the computer.

  4. If you need any specific programs, see the Lab Supervisor.

  5. Because of the sensitive nature of the computer lab and because of the safety and insurance reasons, no children and no food or drinks are allowed in the lab.

  6. Violators may immediately be asked to leave the lab.

  7. a) Please sign in and out on the log in computer: punch in your SSI and wait for the list of classes menu. From the menu list, punch in the number of class using the keyboard or by selecting the class by the mouse. When you leave, log out by punch in your SSI.

  8. b) Select an open computer by signing on the computer reservation form. You can reserve the computer for two hours. Reservations will not be honored if not claimed in ten minutes. If you do not sign in and the lab becomes full, you will be bumped off when the next student comes.

  9. For help, raise your hand and an aide will be there to help you. When the lab is full, the aides can spend only ten minutes per student. Aides are there to help you and may not do your homework.

  10. If you need an e-mail account, please use one of the commercial services such as Yahoo or Hot Mail. If you don't know how to set up an e-mail account, ask for the e-mail hand book.
