The following are the main points about the course:

1. You MUST watch a lecture each day Monday through Friday.

During the fall and spring semesters you can watch previously recorded broadcasts of Math 70 lectures as streaming video on your computer at 6 AM and 6 PM at  3CMediaSolutions Simulcast. You can view a schedule of broadcasts at  3C Media Solutions Schedule 3C Media Solutions  is a statewide, grant-funded initiative established by the California Community College Chancellor's Office in 1997 to advance distance learning and support the mission of the California Community College system."

The lectures are also on a DVD set that can be played on your computer's DVD ROM drive. The DVD's are available in the MUC bookstore.

2. You take tests on Saturdays in FH127 at 10 AM as listed in the Spring 2010 Schedule link.

3. You MUST send a weekly update to me letting me know that you have watched the lectures for the week and have done the assigned homework.  You will be dropped for non participation if you do not do this. You send your e-mail to me using the following link: E-mail to Dr. Curl

4. You spend at least two hours a day on home work that is kept in a three ring binder that is turned in when you take each test.  The home work assignments are given each week along with the lectures when you click on each week of the Spring 2010 Schedule link.

5. You MUST have the 8th edition of the text that is listed in the Syllabus   link.

Please note that a new printing of the 8th edition of the text is used for the course  and the text and a DVD set of Lectures are available in the bookstore.  You should watch the  SS  2004 Orientation video.  Except for the time and location of the tests referenced in the video, the information is valid for the semester.

Read note below   You can also watch the lectures daily at AM at  3CMediaSolutions Simulcast    3C Media Solutions Schedule.

Mathematically Speaking...

The goal of the video version of the Elementary Algebra class at Modesto Junior College is to provide students:

(1) the opportunity to take the algebra course without needing to be in a class at a particular time of the day.

(2) the opportunity to view the same lecture content they would watch while attending an on campus elementary algebra course.

(3) the opportunity to take the course without needing to be on campus (this assumes they have a broadband Internet connection).

Please Note:

"3C Media Solutions -  is a statewide, grant-funded initiative established by the California Community College Chancellor's Office in 1997 to advance distance learning and support the mission of the California Community College system."  Click here for the current webcast schedule.

Please note that you must watch the daily lectures of the Spring 2003 broadcast of Math 70.  Click on the link to the Spring 2010 Schedule. Click on any week and then click on the lecture you wish to watch.  You will need a broadband connection to watch the video lecture.

If you click on the print version of the board photos and then click on the pane you want, you will get a reversed image of the board photos that you can print.

It is imperative that you view the daily lectures as the text does not provide all of the content covered in the course.   You can watch each lecture using Real One player.   You just click on the lecture you want to watch. Please note that you may first need to click on the link at the top of the page for Real One Player for the free download of the video player.
