A two disk DVD set of the Spring 2004 Lectures is in the Book Store

A two disk CD set of Conversations in Statistics is in the Book Store

The CD's are called Conversations In Statistics and are done with the idea that while you are driving around you can listen to comments about statistics.  The tracks are about the key ideas in the first chapters of the stat course and are separated by brief musical interludes.  The audio tutorial was suggested by a previous student who helped me record the session

Statistically Speaking... My goal is to have students actively involved in both the content and concepts of statistics. This is currently done in the video based class by having students work with issues that were addressed in the 3rd International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) held in September of 1994 in Cairo, Egypt. The programme of action that was a result of the conference can be viewed at this link.  ICPD Programme of Action    In July of 1999 a special session of the United Nations General Assembly "identified key actions needed for further implementation of the ICPD Program of Action and new benchmarks for measuring progress towards the ICPD goals."   The following link identifies the key actions needed.  ICPD + 5    A decision was made in 2004 to not have what would have been the scheduled 4th ICPD.   This decision was the result of the ongoing need to address the many unresolved problems that were the focus of the 1994 conference.  However, a meeting was held to assess the progress in achieving the goals of the Cairo conference.  The summary report of the progress made in implementing the Programme of Action can be viewed at this link. ICPD + 10    In 2009, UNFPA (United Nations Population Fund) will again head a third assessment of the progress that has been made in achieving the Cairo goals. There is a discussion board for ICPD + 15 that you can participate in.   jccurl

To solve problem of 16-bit error message when installing SG5.1 go to the following URL and click on xp_fix.exe       http://www.visualtour.com/downloads/default.asp

"This installation program will reinstall the missing or corrupt Windows XP system files command.com, autoexec.nt and config.nt. The absence or corruption of one or more of these files causes a "16 Bit Subsystem" error.

(They) recommend that you download this file and save it to your desktop or to another location where you can find it. Double click on the file to run it once it's downloaded. If problem reoccurs in the future, simply re-run this program."
